Metropolis

Nupur worked on the theater production 'Metropolis' directed by Amal Allana. The play was part of the Ibsen Festival that took place in New Delhi in 2009. It had a 4 screen video component which worked on three levels. One as stand alone video, two where the actors interacted with the video, and thirdly where the video provided a more emotional impression to the scene.







The following are excerpts from the death scenes that happen in the end of the play. In the drowning bit, one of the lead roles had just gone through an operation and was unable to physically get into water. So instead it was done by taking photographs of the characters as if in a state of shock, the photographs were then submerged in a tub of water and shot to give a more artistic impression of drowning.
